Who it’s for · Immigration lawyers

Detentions, notices, hearing dates: no call goes unanswered.

A wife calls because officers took her husband from a job site this morning. She doesn’t know where he is held, and your line is busy with a consultation. Phoneman answers, takes the details you need, and writes up every call.

Urgent calls first.

Urgent
  • Someone the caller says was detained or taken by officers now
  • A hearing, interview or deadline today or tomorrow
Important
  • An immigration court hearing a few weeks out
  • A request for evidence, notice to appear or denial with a deadline
  • A status or work permit expiring within a month
Low
  • Office hours and location
  • What to bring to a consultation, from your approved answer

Phoneman is not an emergency service. It marks urgent calls so you see them first.

Boundaries

It answers. You decide.

What it does
  • Take only what the caller volunteers, without asking about status or how anyone entered
  • Note the date a caller reads from a USCIS notice or court letter
  • Mark a detention, or a hearing tomorrow, Urgent
  • Offer to connect a caller to you, if they agree, when you have call transfers turned on
What it won’t do
  • Say whether someone qualifies or is likely to succeed
  • Say whether it is safe to travel, attend an appointment or open the door
  • Comment on a deadline or an expiry date
  • Promise that the firm can stop a removal
It learns your answers · example
  1. A caller asks: “Do you help with DACA renewals?”
  2. You approve: “Yes. Renewals are a flat fee, and we start with a 20-minute phone call.”
  3. Next time: The next caller with a DACA renewal coming up hears that you handle them and how the first call works.

Transfers, with consent. A caller says her husband’s bond hearing was moved to tomorrow and asks for his attorney. With call transfers on, Phoneman asks first, then rings the attorney’s line; outside transfer hours it takes a message marked Urgent.

FAQ

Will it ask callers about their immigration status?

No. It never asks about status, how someone entered or criminal history. It writes down only what the caller chooses to share.

What if the call comes from a detention center?

It stops the caller from describing what happened, says the lawyer will want to hear it directly, and takes only their name, where they are held and a way to reach them or someone for them.

Can it tell a caller whether their work permit date is a problem?

No. It notes the expiry date the caller gives and marks one within a month as Important. Judging the timing is your call.

Can callers ask for a particular attorney?

Yes. It notes who they asked for, and with call transfers on it offers to connect them, if they agree.

Never miss another call.

Set it up in about 3 minutes, call it yourself, and forward your calls only when you’re happy.
