Who it’s for · Towing and roadside services

Driver on a hook? Stranded callers still get an answer.

You’re winching a car out of a ditch when a driver calls from the shoulder of the interstate. If nobody picks up, they dial the next tow company their phone finds. Phoneman answers, takes the details you need, and writes up every call.

  • A tow needed right after an accident
  • A child or an animal locked in a car

Boundaries

It answers. You decide.

What it does
  • Tell a caller with someone hurt, a car on fire or a car stopped in traffic to get away from the vehicle and the traffic, then call 911
  • Pin down the exit, mile marker or cross street before anything else
  • Mark highway breakdowns and accident tows Urgent so they top your list
  • Offer to connect a caller to you, if they agree, when you have call transfers turned on
What it won’t do
  • Quote a tow price or say how long the truck will take
  • Tell a caller a truck is already on its way
  • Say where an impounded car is or what it takes to get it released
  • Give advice on fixing the car
It learns your answers · example
  1. A caller asks: “Can you tow an all-wheel-drive car?”
  2. You approve: “Yes. All-wheel-drive cars go on the flatbed, never the wheel lift.”
  3. Next time: The next caller who mentions all-wheel drive hears that you bring a flatbed for it.

Transfers, with consent. A fleet manager asks for you by name about three vans down at once. With call transfers on, Phoneman asks first, then rings your phone; outside your transfer hours it takes a message.

FAQ

Will it tell a stranded driver when the truck will arrive?

No. It never gives an arrival time or says a truck is coming. It takes the exact location and marks the call so you can dispatch.

What happens if the caller has been in a bad accident?

If anyone is hurt, a car is smoking or a car is stopped in a lane, it tells the caller to get clear of the vehicle and the traffic and call 911, without keeping them on the line.

Can it tell people where their towed car is?

No. It takes where the car was towed from and when, and you call back with the details.

Can it give tow prices?

Only prices you have told it, such as a hook-up fee. Anything else is written up so you can quote.
